Below is an interview with Jeff Moore, the PGA Director of Golf at Finkbine Golf Course. The following are a few traditional and non traditional golf centric questions that I love to ask influential people in the golf industry.
Can you provide our readers a brief biography?
PGA member for 20 years. Enjoy teaching the game to new players and seeing their excitement as they accomplish new goals with their game. Service oriented professional who enjoys interacting and getting to know our patrons. My first 18 years in the golf business were in Overland Park, Kansas at the busy daily-fee St. Andrews Public Golf Course. The past four year's I've run operations for the University of Iowa Finkbine Golf Course, home to the men's and women's golf teams.
When did you start golfing and who introduced you to the game?
I started playing at about 7 years old. My mom got me some lessons early on. My grandfather belonged to a 9-hole Elks Club and I started taking lessons there in the summer and would then get to play 9 holes with him in the afternoons. I played golf with him for almost 20 years. One of my favorite memories was surprising him on his 90th birthday by flying home and golfing with him. He also played in my bachelor party scramble in 2004 at the young age of 91.
